In the 1970s, with all the disco and flares, it was easy to forget about taking care of your hair – but Clairol’s Herbal Essence shampoo was there to fill the void, encouraging us on with scents straight from the natural world. People didn’t care much for the shampoo’s cleaning power, but the scent lingered on – in a good way. Flash forward twenty odd years, and Clairol was reintroducing Herbal Essence to a whole new generation.

The 1990s Herbal Essence was a much bigger hit – harnessing the power of plant extracts and bringing a new, fresh level of clean to the hair care scene. Today’s Herbal Essence range is extensive, encompassing four collections designed to offer a unique experience for your senses, as well as better care for your hair.

The Herbs and Botanics collection includes popular shampoos and conditioners such as Silk ‘n’ Shine Shampoo and Conditioner, enriched with rose hips and palm-derived moisturisers to smooth and soothe your hair toward the radiant shine and silkiness you crave. The Fruit Fusions range is also popular, featuring Vivacious Colour shampoo and conditioner, with a clever blend of mango, papaya and starfruit to improve the condition of colour-treated hair.

The Rainforest Flowers range offers a passion flower enriched shampoo packed with patchouli and vetiver to give normal hair a fresh, clean feeling. And, the Herbal Essence Intensives collection is comprised of a range of revitalising conditioners, masks and styling products derived from the other collections. Popular Intensives products include the Two Minute Anti Frizz Balm, infused with ginger flower, banana flower and cassia to hydrate dry and damaged hair and eliminate flyaways and frizzies, as well as the Intensive Colour Protecting Masque, designed to protect colour-treated hair, with all the power of mandarin, papaya and starfruit.
