Whether you’re four, fourteen or forty there’s one thing we all hate dealing with after washing and conditioning our hair – tangles. There’re few things more annoying in the world of hair care, and thanks to a solid array of modern styling products, taming tangles is easier than ever.
Detanglers take many forms – some are designed to act as normal conditioners, like Aveda’s Sap Moss Conditioning Detangler and others made to spray on while you’re styling your hair, like The Detangler by Paul Mitchell . Whatever type of de-tangler you opt for, it works in much the same way.
A detangler works to keep the cuticle of your hair ‘closed’ which lessens the chance of tangles forming. Good detanglers have a low pH and usually provide flexible polymers that work to shield the hair from damage. Popular detanglers on the market today include Joico, Bumble and Bumble, MOP, L’Oreal, Alterna LIFE and L’anza.
Some de-tanglers are instant, but the majority take a few minutes to work. Apply the detangler according to the directions on the product, and for best results, wait a minute or two. When you begin to brush or comb through your hair, do it carefully – wet hair is more susceptible to breakage or stress, and the detangler will help your brush glide through even thick hair with ease as long as you take your time.
Buying detanglers online is easy – the majority of leading brands are available from many beauty suppliers, often at considerable savings over the high street. Look for online retailers offering shipping discounts as well as those with flexible return and exchange policies.
